LOFT RULES

Because Appalachian Loft is a Community Living Environment you will be responsible for keeping the Loft clean (this includes making your own bed, washing your own dishes and tidying up after yourself). Upon departure, please put all dirty linens and towels in the area designated by the director.

PARKING/TRANSPORTATION: You are responsible for your own parking arrangements. We do not provide parking spaces at the Appalachian Loft (this includes faculty supervised student group trips). There is a public parking lot adjoining the building where spaces can be rented. You can also park at the Port Authority on 42nd St. When taking a student group to New York, the group leader is responsible for providing transportation and must make arrangements directly with the University Motor Pool. For current information on parking University vans, please call the Resident Director at the Appalachian Loft.

BATHROOMS: Each bunk room has a bathroom that must be shared by all guests in that room. Please limit shower length, wipe out sinks and showers after use, and clean up all water from the floor. Personal toiletry items should be kept in your room. The private room has it's own bathroom.

KITCHENETTE: The Loft has a small kitchenette available to all guests for preparing quick meals. Please prepare and eat all food in the kitchen/dining room area (No food is allowed in the sleeping areas). Label any personal food items. Put all dirty dishes in the dishwasher. If dishes are clean, unload dishes and put them away. Wipe down all tables and counters and refil ice trays after use.

TELEPHONES: Please limit all calls to 5 minutes or less. Do not answer the phone unless you are expecting a call. The phone numbers to give family a/friends who may need to contact you are:

CHECKOUT TIME: Checkout time is 12 noon. There are no facilities for storing luggage after you check out. Please make your travel arrangements accordingly.

SECURITY: Keep all windows and doors locked. Make sure to lock the door and elevator behind you when entering and leaving the Loft.
NEVER bring strangers back to the Appalachian Loft with you, or allow then access to the building. If you are expecting friends to meet you at the Appalachian Loft, please inform the Resident Director of their names before they arrive.
Take your keys with you when you leave. There may not be anyone available to let you back in.

GENERAL COURTESIES: Quiet hours are from 11 pm to 7 am. These hours should be strictly observed in and around the facility. Please be considerate of other guests at all times.

Please turn off the lights, heat and electrical appliances when leaving a room to help keep electrical costs down.

The Appalachian Loft is a tobacco/drug/alcohol-free facility. Anyone caught using these substances will be removed from the facility and prosecuted accordingly.

No pets are permitted on the premises.

The on-site Resident Director has final say on all matters relating to the operation of the Appalachian Loft. Persons who violate the above rules may be asked to vacate the premises without a refund. Thank you for your cooperation.
